How to check whether given year is leap year or not in Java?



Problem Description :


Write a program in Java that checks whether given year is leap year or not with proper validations.

Concept :


A leap year is a year containing one additional day. Leap year has 366 days. If any year satisfies any one of following two conditions than we can say that year is a leap year.

  • It is evenly divisible by 4 but not 100.
  • It is evenly divisible by 400.

Examples : 2000,2004, 2008 etc.

Java Program :




Output :


Case 1 :

Output of Java program that check whether given year is leap year or not - case 1
Output - Given year is not leap year.

Case 2 :

Output of Java program that check whether given year is leap year or not - case 2
Output - Given year is leap year.
